WICHITA, Kans. - Newman University scored two first half goals and never looked back as the Jets took a 4-1 win over the University of Texas of the Permian Basin men's soccer team.
Newman's Matt McConnell opened the scoring for the Jets when he found the back of the net at the 21:50 mark. Just before the end of the first half, Chris Vaughn made it 2-0 when took a pass from Will Peppard and his shot found the right side of the net.
Just three minutes into the second half, Renato Ramlochan made it 3-0 before Marshall Johnston gave the Jets a commanding 4-0 lead at the 68:58 mark on a header that found the back of the net.
The Falcons finally got on the board when Raul Lopez scored his first goal of the season at the 79:18 mark when his header off a pass from Ulises Guillen got past Newman goal keeper Craig Branum.
The Falcons took 11 shots, three of which were on goal while Newman was able to get off 16 shots and nine on goal.
