Steve Aicinena

Dr. Steve Aicinena (ice a knee na) grew up in Southern California and attended John Glenn High School in Norwalk, Calif. He participated on the varsity baseball, soccer and tennis teams. He earned the honors of "Class Clown" and "Most School Spirit." Aicinena was named All-Suburban League and All-CIF Southern Section in soccer as a goalkeeper.

Aicinena participated on the men's volleyball team at the University of California at Davis in his junior and senior years of college. He lettered in soccer at California State University Fullerton, which finished 2nd in the NCAA Division II Championships and for the University of California at Davis. While attending college he served as an assistant soccer coach at Glenn High School and Davis High School.

Aicinena worked as a physical education and science teacher at Crownpoint High School in Crownpoint, N.M. from 1979-1986. While at Crownpoint he served as the head women’s volleyball, basketball and track coach.

Aicinena earned his Master's degree from Idaho State and left Crownpoint to attend the University of Northern Colorado to earn his Doctorate in Education. While at UNC, he assisted with the women's volleyball team which qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament each year and won the Continental Divide Conference Championship in 1987.

Aicinena has served as Athletics Director at UTPB for 23 years. He is also a Professor in the Kinesiology Department.
