Stan Anderson enters his second season in charge of the UT Permian Basin Tennis program. Previously he had spent the last 25 years at Eastwood High School in El Paso. During that time, he coached 17 athletes who went to compete at the college level.
In 2020-21, Anderson took the Men’s Tennis team to the Lone Star Conference Championships before the event was called off due to inclement weather.
Aditya Iyer made the LSC Second Team in singles and doubles. Iyer’s doubles partner Paul Schwieger earned a spot on the second team as well. Enrique Sanchez earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention while Lorenzo Lopes was named to the Men’s Sportsmanship team. Both the men's and women's teams earned academic accolades after the season and were named All-Academic by the ITA. Individually, 17 student-athletes earned All-Academic honors as well.
Anderson's squads were some of the best in the state winning three team district titles, four boy's district titles, three girl's district titles, 15 individual district champions, and 10 state team championship appearances. Over his 25 years Anderson compiled a career .731 winning percentage.
Anderson is married to his wife, Dolores. They have a daughter, Rebekah, who played tennis at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a lover of college sports and enjoys reading and playing video games in his spare time.
