Kelvin Huynh began as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at The University of Texas Permian Basin in June 2025. At UTPB, he covers men's basketball and baseball while also assisting with football.
Huynh came to UTPB from Valdosta State University (Valdosta, Ga.), where he spent two years (Aug. 2023-May 2025) and was directly in charge of volleyball, softball, cheer, men's golf, baseball, men's basketball and men's and women's tennis, all while assisting with football. He was a part of the 2023 Valdosta State football team that advanced to the third round of the regional playoff, the 2024 football team that lost in the national championship game, the 2024-25 men's basketball team that was ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, and the 2025 men's tennis team that won the NCAA Division II National Championship.
Huynh has previously worked internships for the University of Kentucky Olympic Strength and Conditioning (June 2023-Aug. 2023) with responsibilities over baseball, softball and gymnastics; for Syracuse University Football Athletic Performance (Jan. 2023-Apr. 2023) with responsibilities over football, set up, breakdown, and the oversight of running back and developmental groups; and for the University at Buffalo Olympic Sports Performance (June 2022-Aug. 2022) with responsibilities over wrestling, track & field, swim & dive, women's basketball, and the oversight of the training and nutrition center.
In college, Huynh was a four-year starter (Aug. 2019-Nov. 2022) for the University at Buffalo Rugby Football Club (Buffalo, N.Y.), where he served as president during his junior year.
In high school, Huynh played football at Jamesville-DeWitt High School (DeWitt, N.Y.), was a team captain his senior year (2018), led Section 3 in receptions per game at slot receiver, and was a Second-Team All-CNY selection.
A native of Syrcause, New York, Huynh graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science (with a minor in Nutrition and Public Health) from the University at Buffalo in May 2023 and earned his Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University in May 2025.
Huynh is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association(NSCA), still plays rugby (casually), and enjoys running, playing pickleball and chess.
