UTPB Athletics

UT Permian Basin's athletics department has a new Falcon on campus. Born and raised in Frisco, Texas, we're excited to have Kelci Martinez join the family as the new Assistant Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Success. 

In her new role, Martinez will be overseeing that the needs of student-athletes are taken care of and will ensure student-athletes stay on the proper track to graduate and remain academically eligible. 

During her time coaching at Arkansas Tech, she met her husband, David Martinez. They have one son named David Jr who is their entire world. Kelci and David are expecting their second child in November 2025.

Prior to her job here at UTPB, she spent the last seven years working at Henderson State University in Arkansas. In 2017, she started as an out-of-state admissions counselor and worked her way up to Associate Director. In June of 2023, she was given the opportunity to take over as the Athletic Academic Success Coordinator. In that role, she worked with over 400 student-athletes and 14 different sports.  

Outside of work, Martinez enjoys spending time with her family and cheering on her favorite professional sports teams: the Dallas Cowboy, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks.
