Jahmal Manning begins as an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at The University of Texas Permian Basin in 2025-26.

Manning makes his way to the Permian Basin from Converse University (Spartanburg, S.C.)., where he was a men's basketball assistant coach and the head development coach. Manning in his first season as the head development coach won more games than any other development team in program history.  

He was previously the the head assistant coach and director of player development at Webster University (St. Louis, Mo.). While at Webster, Manning helped guide the team to back-to-back conference championship appearances in 2022 and 2023. Webster was ranked 14th in the country in blocks and first in the conference in total rebounds and rebounding margin. Webster was also first in conference in points allowed per game and opponents' field goal percentage, and the coaching staff received Coach of the Year Award in 2023. 

Prior to Webster University, Manning worked at Jacksonville College as the head assistant coach and director of player development. Before working at Jacksonville College, Manning worked for Vaqueros de Bayamon (Professional Team of Puerto Rico) as a film analyst. Manning was also the head coach of the Kings Semi-Pro Basketball team.

Manning served as the Head Basketball Coach at Texas A&M University-San Antonio from 2016-2018. He helped improve the teams record by 60 percent over two seasons and was named the Alamo League Coach of the Year.

Off the court, Manning has won several awards throughout his coaching career. He won the U.S. Presidential Community Award (2017), was named Mr. Texas A&M University-San Antonio (2017), and was named Coach Mentor of the Year (2018).

Manning earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University-San Antonio in 2016. He also earned a Masters in Business Administration from Texas A&M University, Mays Business School in 2020.
