Haley Hanson began as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at The University of Texas Permian Basin in January 2026. She will begin by working with the UTPB baseball team in Fall 2026, followed by women's soccer in the Fall.
She came to UTPB from Dodge City Community College (2024-25), where she was also an assistant athletic trainer. During her time at Dodge City, Hanson would volunteer and help out the arena football team (Southwest Kansas Storm) for games and practices, and also volunteered for the Dodge City Athletics summer baseball team for game coverages.
A native of Pelahatchie, Mississippi, Hanson earned her master's degree in athletic training from Louisiana State University (2022-24) and a bachelor's degree in exercise science/sports medicine from Belhaven University (2019-22).
While at LSU, she worked as a graduate student in athletic training working the Tigers baseball, track and field, softball, women's soccer, and football programs. She worked the 2024 LSU football pro day, and also helped out with mass physicals day at Baton Rouge Community College.
Hanson also worked as a student trainer during her time at Belhaven where she was a three-year starter on the softball team. During her softball career, she was a two-time all-conference honoree, a three-time all academic-conference honoree, a member of the all-region team, and was an all-tournament team honoree. In addition, Hanson helped lead her team to two American Southwest Conference regular-season championships, one conference tournament championship and one regional championship, led her team to the NCAA Tournament in the first year the program was allowed to compete in the national tournament, and ultimately saw her team advance to the NCAA Tournament in all three years of her playing career.
As a prep athlete, Hanson played softball and basketball at Jackson Preparatory School (2016-18), leading the softball team to two state championship and two south state championships while also being a two-time All-MAIS honoree. She also played softball at East Rankin Academy, where she was a starter since the seventh grade and was a four-time All-MAIS honoree.
In her spare time, Hanson enjoys reading, watching TV series, working out and cooking.
