Donzale Ashley was hired as the next cornerbacks coach for the UTPB football team in January 2026.
Ashley spent the previous three seasons on the Ashland University football coaching staff. During his time, he helped lead Ashland to back-to-back conference titles and a No. 2 national defensive ranking.
Before coaching at his alma mater (Ashland), Ashley spent four years as a defensive backs coach at Lincoln and Edison High Schools in California, and worked as a behavior specialist at F.A.C.E.S (Faith Action Community Education Services. He was also was a youth care counselor for Boys & Girls Aid for two years, providing him with a unique ability to connect with and mentor student-athletes.
A former Eagle football player with an all-conference playing background, Ashley earned Second-Team Don Hansen All-Super Region Four and First-Team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors at Ashland in 2015, and was also a Cliff Harris Award Nominee. He also spent time with the National Football League's Washington Redskins in the 2016 rookie minicamp.
