Chris Meyers

  • Title
Offensive Coordinator / Offensive Line Coach
Chris Meyers was hired as the next offensive coordinator for the UTPB football team in January 2026. Meyers is known for developing talent like NFL draftee Tucker Kraft at South Dakota State University. He brings a track record of developing elite talent at the tight end position and successful recruiting to the Falcons. He is a two-time FCS National Championship coach at South Dakota State; coached previously at Washington State, SDSU, Oklahoma State and TCU; has mentored multiple All-Americans; and has accumulated a 15-2 career record in the postseason.

Meyers was hired as the OC/OL Coach at UTPB due to his proven ability to develop and elevate both individual players and entire position groups, as well as his deep experience in recruiting. Meyers’ tenure at South Dakota State was marked by exceptional success, where he mentored a talented tight end unit that helped lead a nationally ranked rushing attack in 2024. His work with tight ends Tucker Kraft and Zach Heins, both of whom earned All-America honors, showcases his capacity to coach elite talent, with Kraft going on to be selected in the NFL Draft. Meyers also helped guide freshman Davin Stoffel to a productive debut season in 2024, highlighting his ability to develop young players. As Recruiting Coordinator, Meyers helped build one of the strongest recruiting classes in the FCS, and his experience in this role will be crucial in building UTPB’s talent pipeline. Prior to his time at South Dakota State, Meyers worked at Oklahoma State, contributing to a Big 12 Championship team and coaching NCAA rushing champion Chuba Hubbard. His diverse coaching background—from offensive line coaching to tight ends—along with his ability to recruit top-tier talent and develop players at all levels, make him an ideal fit to lead UTPB’s tight ends and bolster the recruiting efforts. His coaching experience, player development skills, and expertise in building strong offensive units make him a valuable addition to UTPB’s staff.

Meyers was previously Washington State University’s tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator coach on Head Coach Jimmy Rogers' staff, beginning in January 2025.

Meyers arrived in Pullman, Washington, having spent the previous three seasons at South Dakota State, the last two on Rogers' staff. In 2024, he guided a very young unit with just one upperclassman, senior Kevin Brenner, three sophomores and five freshmen. The unit helped a rushing attack that finished third nationally with 236.1 yards per game. Freshman Davin Stoffel led the unit with 14 receptions for 177 yards and a touchdown.

Meyers joined the South Dakota State football coaching staff prior to the 2022 season as tight ends coach before adding recruiting coordinator duties following the 2022 campaign.

During his first year at SDSU, Meyers mentored one of the top tight end tandems in the Football Championship Subdivision. Tucker Kraft (first team) and Zach Heins (second team) each were honored on the All-Missouri Valley Football Conference team, with Kraft repeating on All-America teams selected by the Associated Press and Stats Perform. Kraft would go on to be selected in the third round of the 2023 National Football League Draft by the Green Bay Packers.

Heins turned in an All-America season of his own in 2023, earning a spot on the Walter Camp FCS All-America First Team as he closed out his career 10th on the SDSU all-time charts with 18 receiving touchdowns. The Sioux Falls, South Dakota, native, who was a repeat selection to the All-MVFC Second Team along with position mate Mike Morgan, later signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Meyers previously served as an offensive line graduate assistant at Oklahoma State University, where he worked with a unit that cleared the way for 2019 NCAA rushing champion Chuba Hubbard. The 2021 Oklahoma State team played in the Big 12 Football Championship and closed a 12-2 season with a win over the University of Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.

A 2015 graduate of TCU, Meyers began his coaching career as an offensive line assistant for teams that combined for a 23-3 record and two bowl victories during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He then moved on to Stephen F. Austin State University for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, working as offensive line quality control coach.
