Gil Williams enters his second season as the assistant men’s and women’s golf coach at UT Permian Basin. Prior to coming to UTPB Williams has spent time at Dallas Baptist, LeTourneau Universiity, and University of Louisiana Monroe.
Williams was the volunteer assistant golf coach at LeTourneau where in the 2016-17 the Yellow Jackets finished in the top four in five tournaments, including three of their last four. Prior to that he was the student assistant at Louisiana Monroe, where he helped the Warhawks to a third place finish in the Sun Belt as well as a team victory in the Wallace Jones Invitational.
Williams also has experience as a basketball coach, with successful stints at his prior stops. As a graduate assistant at Dallas Baptist he helped guide the Patriots to the most wins in program history, a Heartland Conference championship and a bid to the NCAA Tournament. He helped guide LeTourneau to a 22 win season as a student assistant, the most in program history, and their first conference championship.
He has a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies from LeTourneau University.
