UTPB Vice President of Athletics Scott Larson has announced a change in leadership for the Falcon Softball program. Coach AubreeAna Avila-Oropeza has stepped down from her position, effective immediately. In her first season, she led the team to an overall record of 8-42 and 3-37 in Lone Star Conference play.

David Martinez, former head softball coach at Henderson State University, will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. A national search for the next head coach will begin following the conclusion of the season.
