COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 14, 2025) – The National Strength And Conditioning Association (NSCA) is proud to name its newest strength and conditioning coaches who have obtained the prestigious Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach® Emeritus (RSCC*E) designation, and The University of Texas Permian Basin's Deputy Athletic Director / Senior Woman Administrator Sarah Ramey was one of 27 coaches to join the exclusive group in 2024.

Known as the badge of excellence for elite coaches, the NSCA's Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) is the organization's highest coaching designation. It signifies that a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®)-certified coach has demonstrated experience and knowledge in their profession. Within the RSCC designation, only coaches who have 20 years or more of professional experience meet the criteria for the esteemed RSCC*E recognition.

Ramey came to UTPB this year after 17 seasons as the Director of Athletic Performance at West Texas A&M University. At WT, Ramey oversaw student-athletes in all sports in the areas of health and performance, the benefits of which can be seen in the numerous honors and team championships which WT garnered during her tenure, as well as by her being recognized as the 2009 recipient of the Samson Equipment Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year Award, as given by American Football Monthly.

Ramey served as the inaugural chair of the Lone Star Conference Athletic Performance Advisory Committee from January 2020-2022, which acts as an advisory group to the Lone Star Conference. In September 2021 she began a year and a half term as the South Central Region representative on the D2 Track & Field National Committee. In May 2022, Ramey was voted to the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) Board of directors for a three-year term. In January 2023, Ramey began a four term on the D2 Management Council as an at-large appointee, including an assignment on the all-division Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects in Sport (CSMAS) that works directly with the NCAA Sports Science Institute (SSI) on all things health, performance and wellness for student-athletes. She is the current chair of the LSC CAA.

All coaches who earn RSCC designation are added to the NSCA's searchable RSCC Registry as verification of their credentials. Additionally, every RSCC Coach participates in annual training and assessments beyond what is required of their peers and is held to the highest standard of practice in the profession.

Coaches seeking to earn RSCC distinction need two years of verifiable experience working full-time as a designated strength and conditioning coach in a scholastic, collegiate, professional, national team, or private sport team organization or embedded within a tactical (military or public safety) training unit as a dedicated strength and conditioning professional.
