Faces of UTPB: Monica Parrish
Important People
When you think about UT Permian Basin Athletics the student-athletes and coaches probably come to mind. But at the heart of the Athletics Department, you'll find Administrative Assistant, Monica Parrish. Parrish is getting ready to enter her 36th year at UTPB and 11th year in the Athletics Department – previously working as an Administrative Assistant for the College of Education.
"I like seeing the success of the student-athletes both in their sports and their studies," said Parrish. "The staff works as a team and is always willing to help others when there is a need. I enjoy going to the games and supporting the student-athletes and coaches."
The support Parrish has shown to the coaches and student-athletes over the years hasn't gone unnoticed as Head Women's Basketball Coach Rae Boothe shared how much she means to the department.
"Monica is an exceptional member of our team. She has dedicated 36 years to UTPB. The past 11 in Athletics and although she often works behind the scenes, she is one of the most valuable members of our team. The way that she works allows us, as an athletic department, to operate and perform at a high level," said Coach Boothe. "I have had the privilege of working with Monica for the past 7 years. She has been consistent and steady for athletics. What I admire most about Monica is who she is. She is a person of high character and integrity, she is extremely committed to getting the job done no matter what personal sacrifices she has to make, and she deeply cares about our students. I often tell her that I don't know how we would function without her. She is our "glue". I have learned a lot from Monica! I am thankful for her mentorship and friendship."
