The UT Permian Basin athletic department is excited to welcome another new Falcon to campus. Coming from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, the Falcons have hired Ricky Baptist as the new Sports Information Director.
 
Baptist is the primary media contact and oversees all aspects of internal and external communications for each of the 14 intercollegiate sports programs in the UTPB Athletic Department.

He coordinates and maintains all operations of the Falcons' official website, www.utpbfalcons.com, and all social media networks. His duties also include gathering and maintaining official statistics; distributing news releases to hometown, regional and national media; coordinating interview requests for players, coaches and staff; and overseeing live audio and video of home contests.

Baptist is entering his eighth year working full-time in sports information, but has been in the field in some capacity since his freshman year of undergrad in 2009.
 
"I chose UTPB because I was looking forward to taking the jump to NCAA Division II, while also finding a school that could help me find the delicate balance between athletic/work success and work/life balance," said Baptist. "I am most excited about joining a powerful athletics' program on the rise in both the Lone Star Conference and NCAA Division II, and taking on the new challenge of living in West Texas and experiencing a "new way of life."
