LUBBOCK, Texas - Melayna Lopez had a pair of hits and scored a run in the University of Texas Permian Basin softball team's final road contest of the year. It wasn't enough as the Falcons fell to Lubbock Christian, 8-1, at Maner Park in Lubbock, Texas.
Â
Lopez had a double and a single to lead the offense.
Mia Quintero,
Stephanie Jimenez,
Kylie Parker, and
Nia Brown all had a hit on the day.
Emery Aguilar was strong out of the bullpen, allowing just three earned runs over 5.0 innings.
Â
After the Lady Chaps scored four in the bottom of the first the Falcons took advantage of some sloppy play by LCU for their run. Lopez singled to leadoff the second and moved to second on a wild pitch. An error allowed her to move to third before she scored on another wild pitch to make it 4-1.Â
Â
The Falcons threatened again in the fourth. It was Lopez again getting things going with a double. She moved to third on a single by Parker but the Falcons couldn't push a run across.Â
Â
UTPB returns to Odessa next weekend for their final series of the season. They'll open it on Friday with a doubleheader against Cameron before hosting Senior Day on Saturday.
