Our first Hometown Hero of the season is Jacinto Treto. Treto achieved the title of United States Marine in October of 2015 after completing Basic Training in San Diego, CA. He was stationed in 29 Palms, California, with 2/7 Battalion Marines (Call Sign: Havoc) as a supply chain analyst.
While serving with Two Seven, he deployed twice to the Middle East during Operation Inherent Resolve with the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Ground Combat Element in 2016 and again in 2017/2018.
Upon returning after his second deployment, he was assigned to the Marksmanship Training Unit aboard 29 Palms. During this time, he attended more training and achieved the secondary Job Specialty of Firearm Marksmanship Coach as well as Range Safety Officer.
In the span of 13 months, Jacinto trained thousands of Marines for their yearly rifle and pistol/sidearm qualifications. Jacinto achieved the rank of E5-Sergeant and received the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Joint Services Meritorious Unit Award, and one Meritorious Mast. Jacinto is from Colorado, where his family still lives.
Jacinto has come from Houston all by himself and has lived in Odessa for the last couple of months with his Emotional Support Animal, Cinder. Thank you, Jacinto, for all that you do.
