ODESSA, TX – Falcons continue to hit the ball and hit it hard as the UT Permian Basin softball team finished its series against Angelo Thursday afternoon at UTPB Softball Park.
Although the Rambelles got three runs on the board in the first inning, it would be the last time they would score in the game.
The Falcons chipped away at the lead, cutting it in half in the third inning sparked by a homerun from
Cheyenne Marquez.
A SAC fly from
Aracely Araiza brought in
Keri Sanford to tie the game at 3. Later in the inning, the Falcons over took the Rambelles off a
Stephanie Jimenez RBI single to go up 4-3.
UTPB held off the ASU hitters to hold on to win 4-3.
Jimenez, Marquez, and Sanford lead all hitters with two each. One of Sanford's was a double, and Marquez had the only homerun of the game. Araiza and
Belicia Urdiales each collected a stolen base.
Abby Cousins picks up the win (2-1) while
Destini Trahan earned her first save of the season.
The Falcons didn't fare as well in the second game of the day. ASU outscored the Falcons 14-0 to take the final game of the series.
