On Tuesday (Dec. 12), it was announced that starting in the fall of 2024, the top player in Division-II collegiate golf will be eligible to earn PGA Tour Americas membership through PGA Tour University. A junior or senior who wins the D-II Jack Nicklaus Award (National Player of the Year) will earn the same benefits as players who finish 11th-25th in the PGA TOUR University Ranking.
This player may accept his performance benefits upon the conclusion of his collegiate career, meaning a junior who wins the D-II Jack Nicklaus Award may accept his performance benefits after his senior season.
Currently,
Sangha Park is ranked the No. 1 golfer in country, and on pace to win the D-II Jack Nicklaus Award for the 2023-24 season. Additionally, Park will be returning to UT Permian Basin to compete in the 2024-25 men's golf season, and will attempt to win the D-II Jack Nicklaus Award, earning him the benefit of being exempt into Second Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry.
During the 2023 fall season, Park won a school record three tournaments and set a new 18-hole school record, shooting 62 at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate tournament.
The men's golf team will be back on the course on Sunday (Mar. 3), competing in the Las Vegas Desert Classic, which will take place over the course of three days.
