Falcons And Eagles Claw To A Tie

ODESSA, Texas – The seniors left everything on the field as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's soccer team (4-7-6, 2-5-5 Lone Star Conference) tied Oklahoma Christian (6-5-6, 2-5-5), Friday night at UTPB Soccer Field.

This is the first positive result over the Eagles since Sept. 21, 2014 and the first in LSC play.  This year's group of seniors leave as the most successful class since UTPB joined the LSC with 11 wins and 10 ties.

In a four-minute span starting at the 25 minute mark, senior Jenna McEnaney came up with three amazing saves in four minutes.  With 14:23 to go in the first half, junior Kristel Chaves blasted away and found the net to make it 1-0, UTPB.

Just 23 seconds into the second half, senior Jordan Edwards fed the ball to senior Madi Grace Carriello.  She pushed the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0, Falcons.  Oklahoma Christian scored twice in a 14-minute span to tie it at 2-2 at the 66:20 mark.

With less than 10 minutes to go, Chaves had a free kick that just bounced off the post.  UT Permian Basin made a great put back shot that was saved by a heads up play by a defender.

UT Permian Basin had five shots with four on goal and were called for 16 fouls.  Chaves finished with six goals, setting the season record since joining the LSC.

McEnaney had nine saves.  She finished her career with 210 saves, just the fourth keeper in program history to hit 200.
