The Falcons

• The Falcons enter action on Tuesday riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping Arlington Baptist over the weekend.
• This is the team's final non-conference contest of the season.  Starting Friday the Falcons enter Lone Star Conference play with a home series against Midwestern State.
• Julia Bumford continues to rake, leading the team with a .549 batting average, six home runs, and 27 RBI.  The 27 RBI is already the fourth most in a single season in program history.  The sophomore has hit successfully in 14 of her 16 games this season.
• Valerie Gonzalez has done a lot of damage out of the leadoff spot this season.  She is hitting .409 with seven extra base hits and scored 17 runs. 
• The Falcons have already surpassed their run output and win total from 2021 in less than half the games.  Last season they had three players with 10 or more RBI, this season they already have five.
• Destini Trahan is emerging as an ace with a 2.15 ERA and three wins this season.  She and Becky Berth both have three complete games. 
• Trahan, Berth, and Cynthia Ng all have three wins on the season while Abby Cousins is 2-0.  The Falcons are holding opposing hitters to a .248 batting average against this season.
• The Falcons swept a doubleheader earlier this season against the Mustangs.  The last time the Falcons played in Hobbs, Cousins threw the first perfect game in program history.

The Mustangs

• They have won three in a row after dropping their first six games of the season.
• Their offense has struggled, only scoring 44 runs through nine games. 
• The Mustangs have been successful at swiping bags in 2022, stealing 18 bases in 20 attempts.
