GAMEDAY: Falcons Start Season Against RMAC Foes

All three teams will be making their 2022 season debuts in Albuquerque this weekend. UT Permian Basin Softball back with old and new faces ready to lead them to a Lone Star Conference playoff appearance.
 
The Falcons last year hit .243 with eight home runs, while accumulating 326 total bases on the year. As a pitching staff they threw 12 complete games and one shutout, while striking out 131 batters.
 
Colorado Christian was 29-13 last year including going 25-8 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The Cougars made it to the RMAC Tournament finale but fell short to No. 15 Colorado Mesa. As a team in 2021 the Cougars hit .295 while hitting 53 home runs and driving in 302 runs. In the circle they held a 3.88 ERA while striking out 158 batters. They pitched nine complete games with four shutouts.
 
New Mexico Highlands finished the 2021 season 8-32 in the RMAC as they played all their games against conference opponents. The Cowgirls hit .284 in 2021 with 28 home runs and 160 runs driven in. In the circle they had a 9.98 ERA striking out 87 batters and giving up 50 home runs. They tallied 19 complete games with no shoutouts.
 
The Falcons are familiar with their opponents as they are 0-3 against Colorado Christian, but they haven't met up since 2017 and they are 1-2 against New Mexico Highlands winning their last game back in 2020, 8-0 in Lubbock, TX.
