Barroso Brilliant Again in Crucial Road Win

Gustavo Barroso is staking his claim as one of the best play makers in the Lone Star Conference and he showed why Wednesday at Texas A&M International.  The senior scored twice in the second half to lead UT Permian Basin to a 3-2 victory.  With the win the Falcons are tied for second heading into Saturday's match with LSC leading St. Mary's.

The Falcons took aim early and often in the first half, registering seven shots on goal but unable to find the back of the net.  The defense held though and sent the game into the locker rooms scoreless.

The second half is where both offenses finally found a rhythm.  In the 54th minute the Dustdevils scored the first goal of the night but the Falcons quickly responded.  Just minutes later, Gael Gonzalez scored, the first of his career, to tie the score.

The score was not tied for long before the Dustdevils retook the lead in the 68th minute.  The scoring continued in the 71st minute when Barroso scored the first of his goals on a penalty kick.  Moments later Barroso took a pass from Felipe Almeida on a give-and-go and beat the charging goalkeeper to give the Falcons their first lead of the night.  From there they salted away the clock but not without some resistence from the home team.  In the final 30 seconds the Dustdevils had a bouncing ball in the box, but the ball rolled past the end line for a goal kick to end the threat.

The Falcon offense had 13 shots on goal and 17 shots total.  In net Luke Ryan made five saves in the start.
