UT Permian Basin Men's Soccer has had a flair for the dramatic in recent years, but few were as dramatic as Monday's comeback win at Adams State.
Michael Nweke was the catalyst for the comeback, scoring twice in the final 15 minutes of action.
After playing to a scoreless half, the Grizzlies scored twice for the 2-0 lead, but the Falcons never blinked. In the 69
th minute
Chance Arney scored his first collegiate goal off an assist from
Salvador Vargas Ramos. Moments later Nweke found the back of the net off a pass from
Ilias Varnavides to tie the game in the 75
th minute.
The minutes ticked down and the game looked to be heading to extra time but not before Nweke scored with 47 seconds on the clock for the stunning win. The senior now has seven goals in his career. He scored the game-winner at Lubbock Christian last season to cap off another sensational comeback win.
Kristian Hovind got the start in net and made a save in one half of work.
Rodrigo Rogatto had chances to score, recording four of the 11 Falcon shots. Six Falcons in total recorded a shot with five landing on goal.
