It took until the 80
th minute of action but
Laurice Ortiz found the back of the net for the first goal of the afternoon for UT Permian Basin Women's Soccer. The goal was the first in the sophomore's Falcon career. She had a chance to score again less than two minutes later off a cross, but her shot sailed just high.
Ortiz scored as the Falcons swung the ball around the box, finding her foot for the one timer. The Falcons had their chances against the University of the Southwest but
Kylee Friedland and
Madi Grace Carriello couldn't find the net on their shots on goal. The Falcon defense kept a clean sheet into the second half, but Mustang goals in the 59
th and 89
th minutes put them ahead 2-1 when the final horn sounded.
Ally Robinson and
Blair Woodward split time in net with both recording a pair of saves.
Ayla Sessink and Friedland were credited with assists on the goal.
