Olivia Rees put on a show in the first half for UT Permian Basin, scoring twice against Texas A&M International. It was the first two goal performance by a Falcon since 2017. In net
Blair Woodward was terrific making a career high 11 saves.
Rees started the game with a bang as the Falcons found the net just 40 seconds into the contest. Rees dribbled up the left side and fired on net and spun the ball passed the keeper. In the 38
th minute, Rees found the magic touch once again. With the Falcons controlling the tempo,
Laurice Ortiz served the ball into the box and found the foot of Rees who pushed it into the back of the net.
Woodward was great in the second half, stopping seven shots as the Dustdevils possessed the ball much of the 45 minutes. In the 87
th minute, a Falcon foul in the box forced a penalty kick which was converted by the Dustdevils to tie the score at two and forced overtime. The Falcons had a chance in the first overtime but Kalee Overmeyer's header off a corner kick sailed just over the net. Neither team was able to score in overtime and finished tied 2-2 after 110 minutes.
As a team the Falcon offense fired 14 shots, with seven landing on goal. Rees is the first player since Ariel Roybal on October 29, 2017 against Texas Woman's to score two goals in a game. This season the Falcons have found the back of the net five times in six games, after scoring just six last season.
