Alonzo Leads Late Inning Rally Saturday at Cameron

UT Permian Basin softball closed out its final road series of the season Friday, falling 2-1 and 10-2 in Lawton, Okla.

Trailing 2-0 after the Aggies scored a run in each of the first two innings, the Falcons threatened in the top of the fifth. Alicia Marion an April Arellano each had a pair of two-out hits,  and Vanessa Alonzo came up big with a two-out single into left to score Marion and cut the lead down to one. Kayla Martin followed with a single to left to load the bases, but Cameron got out of the inning to strand all three runners and lead 2-1.

Marion was stranded on base as the tying runner, reaching with one out on an error and moving to second on the play.

Kayla Martin continued her strong play, going 2-3 at the plate in game one.

The Aggies used the long ball in game two, hitting three home runs, including a grand slam by Callie Busby.

The Falcons scored a run in each of the third and fourth innings, getting on the scoreboard when Marion singled in Alyssa Lopez. Abby Hernandez added a second run in the fourth with a bases-loaded single through the right side to score Choco Munoz.
