The third time was the charm as UT Permian Basin weathered through a pair of canceled home openers to finally play at home in Odessa. The Falcons kicked off their come schedule Friday afternoon with a pair of 7-0 and 10-1 losses against Texas A&M Commerce in the Lone Star Conference opener for the Falcons.
Kayla Martin had a pair of singles for the Falcons in the opener, recording two of the team's three hits.
Texas A&M Commerce used the home run ball in the opening game, hitting four out of the park, including a pair by Kayla Kilcrease in the victory.
Vanessa Alonzo and
Courtney Cagle each had a base hit in the night cap, Cagle driving in
April Arellano on a base hit to center field in the bottom of the second.
The Falcons and Lions close out the three-game series at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The finale has been pushed back an hour from its regularly scheduled time due to expected early cold temperatures.
