The UT Permian Basin men's soccer team went on the road and defeated Adams State 4-3.
For the third straight game, UTPB scored first. Just 5:25 into the game,
Hector Jimenez scored from the top of the box off a pass from
Santi Morales to give UTPB the early 1-0 lead. They would extend that lead just moments later when Morales found the back of the net himself to make it 2-0. The score would stay that way heading into half time.
Adams State would charge back with three goals to take the lead less than 15 minutes into the half. Andree Salazar connected on a goal before Israel Varela tied it with a header. Less than three minutes later, Adams State would grab the lead on a goal from Brady Freehill.
UTPB would fight back. At the 74:29 mark,
Oscar Canela scored from the top of the box to tie the game at three a piece. After a late corner, Adams State committed a foul in the box allowing UTPB a penalty kick. Morales would drive it home giving UTPB the 4-3 lead which they would not relinquish.
Jordan Brown made his first appearance on the season in goal and recorded six saves for UTPB.
UTPB stays in Colorado as they finish the week with a match-up Saturday with Colorado State- Pueblo before returning home next week to begin Heartland Conference play.
