UT Permian Basin men's soccer's 2017 season came to an end Tuesday night in the Heartland Conference Championships as the Falcons fell in double overtime penalty kicks 0-0 (5-4) to Texas A&M International at Dustdevil Field.
Scoreless through two 45-minute periods and a pair of 10-minute overtime sessions, the game went to a best-of-five penalty kicks. Stefan Faria, Brandon Lee and
Lipe Lima each made their PK shot in the first three rounds for UTPB, while Michael Iskander, Rafael Montabes and Elias Perales matched the Falcons effort at 3-3 through three rounds.
UTPB missed its fourth attempt, and TAMIU took the 4-3 PL lead on a shot by Keanu Born. Darupad Sharma tied it at 4-4 to keep the Falcons alive in the fifth round, but Alan Rivera gave the Dustdevils the win with hit shootout goal.
Alec Sproule kept the Falcons in the game all night, facing 26 shots in 110 minutes while stepping up to make 12 saves in recording his fifth shutout of the season.
