Box Score 2 UTPB Softball shut out Texas Wesleyan in its opener Firday afternoon in Grand Prairie, Texas, defeating the Lady Rams 2-0. The Falcons fell in their second of six games for the weekend 11-4 to Heartland Conference foe Lubbock Christian.
Randi May threw six scoreless innings in the opener agaist Texas Wesleyan. May gave up six hits and four walks in six innings, but got out of trouble multiple times to keep the Lady Rams scoreless.
UTPB pushed across a pair of runs when
Brianna Red singled with a pair of runners on base, scoring
Melissa Zuniga and pushing across
Alyssa Lene for an unearned run after the left fielder bobbled the ball.Â
RustieAnne Spinks earned her first save of the year, throwing a scoreless seventh while striking out one in the inning.
Irene Valdez led the Falcons with a pair of hits, while
Mallory Hall walked twice in three at bats at the top of the lineup.
The Falcons scored first in their second game of the day against Lubbock Christian.
Daisy Aguilar stole home on a double steal in the second to take a 1-0 lead, and the Falcons later held a 2-0 advantage when Adriana Berzoza scored on a fielding error.
Lubbock Christian came back to score eight times in the eighth, and the Falcons scored twice in the fourth when
Ashlynn Williams hit a single into right to score Red and
Miley McKee.
