Box Score 2 UTPB softball kicked off the weekend with a pair of losses Friday afternoon, falling 6-2 & 10-1 in opening a three-game series at home against Texas A&M International.
The Falcons got their first run of the day after TAMIU took a 5-0 lead in the top of the third. The Falcons scored when
Irene Valdez came in from second on a bunt to
Taylor Clancy to the second baseman and beat out the force at 1st.
UTPB got another run in the fourth, scoring when
Miley McKee came home from third on a bunt to the pitcher by
Dee Gaona.
Valdez had a pair of hits in four at bats for UTPB sitting atop the Falcon batting order.
The Falcons grabbed a 1-0 lead in game two, scoring in the second inning whenÂ
Adrianna Berzoza grounded out to third and
JJ Von Oesen beat the throw from first to home.
The Dustdevils came back to go ahead 2-1 with a two-run homer in the third, and used a five-error top of the fourth to score eight more times and take a 10-2 advantage.
The teams close out the series Saturday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for noon.
