The Falcons got off to a hot start, scoring three in the top of the first inning. Irene Valdez was safe at home on a double steal after Mallory Hall stole second. Later in the inning Chelsae Faries singled back up the middle to drive in Miley McKee. Niki DiSera added a third run on a base hit back up the middle to score Ashlynn Williams.

Newman tied the game in the bottom of the third, scoring two on a triple and getting a third on a sac fly.

Hall gave UTPB back the advantage, driving in Valdez in the top of the fourth on a double down the line to left field. McKee came up big later in the inning, scoring Hall on a two-run home run to left field for a 6-3 lead.

Newman came back big in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four in the inning to go back in the lead 7-4. The Jets added three more runs in the fifth inning to lead 10-6.
