Box Score UTPB softball dropped its final game of the weekend at the Mansfield North Texas Softball Bash Saturday morning, falling 9-4 against Texas Weslyan.
Trailing 3-0, the Falcons got their first run of the game in the bottom of the second when
Aurora Burks stole second and
JJ Von Oesen stole home on the throw down to second base to trail 3-1. The teams traded runs in the fifth, UTPB getting a sac fly by
Niki DiSera to drive home Burks.
Both teams scored twice in the sixth inning. After the Rams got two in the top of the sixth, UTPB got a run on a single from
Ashlynn Williams to score
Dee Gaona and
Mallory Hall later came home when Von Oesen reached on an error at short.
Texas Weslyan put the game out of reach with a three-run top of the seventh for the 9-4 win.
UTPB kicks off conference play this week, traveling to Lubbock for a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon against Lubbock Christian. The teams will come to Odessa next Saturday for one Heartland Conference game followed by a non-conference contest.
