Newman scored a pair of second half goals in less than a minute to take the lead on what was the eventual game-tying and game-winning strikes in a 3-2 defeat of UTPB men's soccer Saturday afternoon in Wichita, Kan.
The Falcons went ahead at 39:37 on the game's first goal when
Cesar Cid took a turnover deep in the Newman defensive zone and scored from 16 yards out for his first goal of the season.
Pedro Augusto evened the contest at 1-1 with a little over a minute remaining in the first half for Newman, but
Rafael Moreira scored his third of the season for the Falcons with 30 seconds remaining at the half to give UTPB back the lead at 44:30 of the first.
Jamie Barkway and Augusto came out right after half and grabbed the lead for Newman, getting goals at 49:00 and 49:31 for the eventual 3-2 lead.
Newman held a 22-10 shot advantage on the day, doubling up UTPB on shots-on-goal 12-6.
The Falcons stay on the road this coming week, taking on St. Edward's Thursday at 1 p.m.
