Lubbock Christian used big innings in both games to take the first two games of the weekend out of four total games and three conference contests, defeating UTPB softball 7-1 and 12-2 Friday afternoon at the UTPB Softball Field.

The Lady Chaps took the lead in the top of the third, scoring a run on an RBI hit by Jessica Loicano to lead to go ahead 1-0.

Jennie Quam pulled the Falcons even in the bottom half of the inning, hitting her second home run of the season to straightaway center to tie the game at 1-1.

Katera Eltsosie grabed the lead back with an RBI double in the top of the sixth for a 2-1 advantage, and LCU came back with five more runs behind seven hits to pad their lead in the final inning of the game.

Lubbock Christian struck first in game two, scoring a pair in the top of the third when Ashton Bell drove in two with a double to right center.

Taleas Marble cut the Lubbock Christian lead in half in the UTPB half of the third with an RBI single into left to score Quam to trail 2-1.

Lubbock Christian grabbed the run back in the top of the fourth and added to their lead in the final two innings, combining for nine runs in the sixth and seventh.

Anna Hollingsworth drove in the final UTPB run, hitting a sacrifice fly to right to plate Nikki Brailsford.

The teams head to Lubbock, Texas, tomorrow afternoon, closing out the weekend with a conference game followed by a non-conference contest. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
