UTPB softball dropped a pair of games Saturday at the 2014 Desert Stinger, losing 4-1 in its first game of the day to Colorado State-Pueblo and dropping a 9-1 decision later in the afternoon to Texas Woman's.
Trailing 2-0 against Colorado State - Pueblo, 
Nikki Brailsford cut the margin in half with her first home run of the season with one out to right center.
The Thurderwolves doubled their run total in their final inning at the plate in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double and run scored on an error.
The Falcons were able to bring the tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh after 
Anna Hollingsworth and 
Holly Herrington each hit singles with two outs, but they were left stranded on base to end the game.
UTPB held an early lead against the #14 Texas Woman's. Brailsford went yard for the second time in as many games , crushing a two-out pitch over the center field wall for a 1-0 lead through one.
That was the only run the Falcons would score in the game, and the Pioneers came back to score three in the top of the second , two in the third, a single run in the fourth before scoring three more in the sixth to end the game after six innings.
Brailsford led UTPB with a pair of hits in three at bats, the second on a single into center in the bottom of the third.
The Falcons are back in Las Vegas for a fifth and final game Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. against New Mexico Highlands.
