UTPB softball fell victim to the longball Tuesday afternoon, surrendering seven home runs in a pair of 11-3 and 11-2 losses against Midwestern State in Odessa.
The visiting Mustangs took a 3-0 lead with three runs in the top of the third in the opening game came back an inning later to score eight more runs off of seven hits.
The Falcons plated the final three runs of the opener, scoring their first of the day as
Anna Hollingsworth led off the bottom of the fourth with her third home run of the season.
Taleas Marble added the second and third runs of the game for UTPB with her first round-tripper of the season, scoring
Niki DiSera with one out.
Midwestern State came out with a single run in each of the first two innings of game two before back-to-back four run innings in the third and fourth gave it a 10-0 advantage.
The Falcons scored a pair in the bottom of the fourth, getting a run when Marble scored on a base hit into center field by
Holly Herrington. Herrington scored later in the inning on an infield single between first base and the circle.
Miley McKee led the Falcons with three hits in four at bats on the day.
UTPB opens Heartland Conference action this weekend, hosting Oklahoma Christian Friday and Saturday.
