UTPB Softball dropped a pair of 8-3 and 4-1 decisions on the road at Angelo State Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Falcons went on top in their first trip to the plate, leading 1-0 as
Jennie Quam led off the game with a double and scored two batters later on another double from
Nikki Brailsford.
Following a run from Angelo State to tie the game in the bottom of the first, the Falcons scored again in the top of the second when Quam reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded to score
Holly Herrington at the Rambelles took the force out at second.Â
ASU broke the game open in its half of the second, scoring six runs behind six hits to go on top 7-2.
Brailsford homered for the third time in 2014 in the top of the fourth to add a third run for UTPB, and the Rambelles matched it with a sac fly run in the bottom of the fifth.
Angelo State struck first in game two, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-out double into center.
The Falcons came back in the top of the second with their own two-out score, tying the game on a single up the middle by
Taylor Clancy that scored
Aurora Burks from third to even the game at 1-1.
UTPB was held scoreless over the remainder of the game, leaving the bases full in the top of the fourth and a pair on base in the seventh with the tying run at the plate.
Angelo State went back in the lead in the bottom of the second with a lead-off homer to center and added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Falcons are back at home in three days, hosting Midwestern State in a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader at 2 p.m.
