The University of Texas of the Permian Basin opened up a three game series at St. Mary's with a 7-0 defeat Friday afternoon at SAISD Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.

Chelsey Morgan and Taleas Marble each had a pair of hits as the Falcons stranded seven runners on base and left two on base at the ends of the fourth and seventh innings.

St. Mary's added to a pair of runs scored in the first with a four-run third inning and added a final run in the bottom of the fifth.

Desiree Valero threw all six innings in the circle for UTPB, giving up seven earned runs off of 13 hits and a pair of walks with two strikeouts.

The two teams are back in action Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader beginning at noon in San Antonio.
