Cameron box score

Texas A&M-Kingsville box score

SAN ANTONIO – For the second-straight day, The University of Texas of the Permian Basin dropped a pair of games at the 2012 St. Mary's Collegiate Classic.  The Falcons dropped a 3-1 decision to Cameron before Texas A&M-Kingsville cruised to a 13-0 victory.

UTPB picked up eight hits in the opener, one more than its opponent, but could not string them together when it needed to.  The Falcons left nine runners on base, including failing to score with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third.  They did however, put up a run in the bottom of the first thanks to a throwing error by Cameron shortstop Leah Trousdale.  Whitney Kuhrt reached on the throwing error to start the inning and later stole second.  Leslie Ericson's single to center put runners on first and third with one out before Chelsey Morgan's single to left plated Kuhrt.

The Aggies tied the game in the top of the third when Leslie Martini hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Drew Wright, who led off the inning with a single to left.  The score would stay that way until Cameron busted out with two runs off three hits in the top of the seventh which proved to be enough for the win.

In the second game, Texas A&M-Kingsville scattered the ball all over the field with 18 hits, with only three going for extra bases.  Six different Javelina players picked up at least two hits in the contest while Jaeleen Castro, the teams ninth batter, went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in and a run scored.

A&M-Kingsville opened with four runs in the top of the first before putting up five more in the second.  The Javelinas would score at least one run in four of the five innings for the win.

The Falcons fell to 0-4 on the season and will look for their first win tomorrow when they take on Abilene Christian at noon and Tarleton State at 2 p.m.
