game one
game two

DURANT, Okla.
– Head coach Annalyn Burch can finally breathe a sigh of relief as she picked up her first collegiate victory as The University of Texas of the Permian Basin softball team took a 4-2 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma in the first game of the double header.  The Savage Storm would come back and take the second game 8-0.

UTPB busted out for nine hits in the opener with Katelyn Stanley going 2-for-3 with two runs batted in.  Whitney Khurt, Courtney Cernoch and Anna Hollingsworth also tallied two hits in the game as well as scoring a run.  Hollingsworth picked up her first collegiate home run – a solo shot in the top of the seventh inning.

Desiree Valero was impressive in the circle as she tossed a complete game, giving up two runs off five hits while striking out three.

The Falcons set the tone early with three runs in the top of the first, thanks to a two-run double by Stanley.  Southeastern Oklahoma would counter with a run in the third before Hollingsworth's round-tripper padded their lead in the seventh.  The Savage Storm threatened in the bottom of the seventh with a lone run, but Valero would keep them in check.

In the second game, UTPB was held to just two hits - a pair of singles by Cernoch and Hollingsworth, while Southeastern Oklahoma pounded out 15 hits.  Southeastern scored a run in the bottom of the first before five runs in the second was more than enough for the trio of Jacee Bennett, Kelsey Reding and Lyndi Davidson.

The Falcons will stay in Durant for the Southeastern Oklahoma Tournament where they will play six games in three days.
