Friel was named the 2018-19 UT Permian Basin Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.  The junior helped propel Falcon volleyball to the Lone Star Conference Tournament for the first time in program history and ended the regular season with an upset win over top-10 Tarleton, handing them their only conference loss in 2018.
