Ashlynn Williams of softball is the 2017-18 UTPB Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. She is a senior kinesiology major with a 3.91 GPA from Fort Worth, Texas. She was softball's scholar athlete in 2016-17, is a two-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete, was named to the 2016 Heartland Conference honor roll and the Lone Star Conference Honor Roll in 2017 and is a four-time member of both the UTPB Deans and Presidents Lists. She is a three year starter for Falcon softball, having played in 158 games with 147 starts at catcher for UTPB. She has given back over 75 hours of community service with the softball team, helping at Habitat for Humanity, Cups for a Cause, and the West Texas Food Bank and is a coach for Permian High School JV softball. She is an intern at Monahans Physical Therapy Clinic, helps tutor her softball teammates, works at the Midland Country Club, and wants to go to physical therapy school after she graduates next fall.
"I am extremely proud of Ashlynn, she has done a phenomenal job on the field and in the classroom," said softball coach Tiala Tagaloa. "She truly embodies the meaning of student-athlete and I am honored to have her represent UTPB Softball and the athletics program."
