The 2017 season will see UT Permian Basin will take on its first NCAA Division I opponent and the Falcons will take to the gridiron five times in the Permian Basin in its second full season as a program.
UTPB will travel to Beaumont, Texas, for a Saturday, September 9th showdown against Football Championships Series member Lamar at Provost Umphrey Stadium.
"I'm excited for this great opportunity to play a division I opponent," said UT Permian Basin head coach Justin Carrigan. "This allows us to compete on a higher level and also provides more exposure for our new program. The greater the challenge, the better we will become."
