Texas A&M - Kingsville held UT Permian Basin football to just 11 yards of rushing on the night and used a 26-0 lead at halftime to knock off the Falcons 47-21 Saturday evening at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, Texas.
Wide receiver
Mitchell Leonard ended the night with nine receptions for 174 yards, both season highs, and scored the team's third touchdown of the night.
UTPB scored three times in 11 minutes, reaching the end zone for the first time on a three-yard pass by
Kameron Mathis to a wide open Marquis Allison from three yards out at 4:07 to play in the third quarter.
Mathis later found
Courtney McMaryion for a 13 yard touchdown on the next drive to score with three seconds left in the third quarter to cap an eight play, 83 yard drive.
Leonard's score came from eight yards away along the sideline in the end zone with 8:07 remaining in the fourth quarter on Mathis' third TD of the second half.
Mathis led the Falcons with 216 yards on 14-21 passing with three scores and an interception.
Kristian Brown added 78 yards receiving, including a 69-yard pass in the first half from
Michael Myers on a long run down the Kingsville sideline.
Keegan Gray led the Falcon defense with 16 total tackles, including half a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss, while fellow linebacker
Chris Hoad also ended the game in double digits with 10 tackles.
UTPBÂ heads to Oklahoma next weekend, taking on Quincy in Miami, Oklahoma, in its first neurtal site game. Kick off is set for 1 p.m.
