Three passing touchdowns.
Two rushing touchdowns.
A stripped fumble returned for a touchdown.
A blocked field goal run back for a touchdown.
And all in the team's second ever game.
UT Permian Basin seemed to find every possible way to score Saturday night in a come-from-behind, seven touchdown night as the Falcons downed Arizona Christian 49-34 at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa.
The visiting Firestorm seemed to take control of the momentum early in the contest when it held the Falcons scoreless as the team's first drive stalled out at the one-yard line. Arizona Christian then went the length of the field, traversing all 99 yards over 16 plays for a 6-0 lead.
UTPB wouldn't get on the scoreboard until under three minutes remained in the second quarter, but took the lead when Cris Hoad stripped the ball, picked it up and ran it home for a 32-yard defensive touchdown for a 7-6 lead.
After ACU came back to score on its ensuing offensive possession,
Kameron Mathis found
Jake Anglin with 40 seconds remaining in the first half from 18 yards out to take the lead back 14-12.
The Falcons weren't done scoring in the half. With eight seconds remining before halftime,
Cameron Hurd blew through the line on a 48-yard field goal attempt to block the kick and
Erin Mack picked it up and ran it back into the endzone for a 21-12 lead heading into the half.
Both teams traded touchdowns two different times in the third quarter; UTPB getting a two-yard run from
Brandon Infiesto and a 13-yard pass to
Kristian Brown to maintain a 35-27 lead through three quarters.
The Falcons made it a two possession game needing just 53 seconds to score in the first minute of the fourth quarter when Mathis found
Terrell Davidson from 20 yards out to push the lead out to two possessions at 42-34.
After ACU rattled off a 67-yard scoring rush to pull within eight points and just under six minutes remaining in the game, UTPB put the game away three drives later when
Jordan Williams scored the seventh TD of the night from a yard out for the 15-point win.
Arizona Christian ended the wild night with a 545-495 offensive yard advantage. The Firestorm picked up 204 yards on the ground to 127 for the Falcons, while UTPB went for 368 in the air to 341 for ACU.
