UT Permian Basin football took part in its first Lone Star Conference event Thursday afternoon as the Falcons joined nine other teams for Lone Star Conference football media day at the MCM Grande' Fundome in Odessa.
The conference welcomed the Falcons along with Western New Mexico as full-members and Oklahoma Panhandle State as a member for football.

The Lone Star Conference released the results of the 2016 LSC Football Pre Season Poll, and announced the preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.
The Falcons open up their inaugural season Saturday, September 3rd at 7 p.m. against Sul Ross as part of a four-game home stretch to open the season.Â

Texas A&M-Commerce was picked to repeat as the Lone Star Conference football champions according to the 2016 LSC preseason poll announced Thursday. The league's preseason poll reflects the opinions of LSC head coaches and sports information directors, plus various media representatives from throughout the region.

Texas A&M-Commerce's Richard Cooper and West Texas A&M's Hunter Streuling were named Lone Star Conference Football Preseason Players of the Year for the 2016 season league officials announced Thursday. A&M-C's Cooper was tabbed Offensive Player of the Year, while WT's Streuling claimed the Defensive Player of the Year award.
