3/10/2015 8:37:00 AM

UTPB football coach Justin Carrigan announced Tuesday afternoon the addition of Scott Preston to the team's coaching staff as offensive coordinator. Preston will also coach the team's quarterbacks.

"I couldn't be more excited to have a guy like Scott here with us," Carrigan said.  "We share a lot of the same beliefs in our offensive philosophies.  We both like to throw ball all over the field, but believe in a solid run game as well."

Preston was Offensive Coordinator at Arkansas Tech University from 2007-2010.  While at Tech, Preston was named the 2009 Football Scoop DII National Coordinator of the Year as the Wonderboys finished the season with a 9-3 record and an NCAA Playoff berth.   Preston's offense finished with the following   national rankings: 1st (All NCAA Divisions) in 3rd Down Conversions (59.7 %), 2nd in Total Offense (527.4 ypg), 3rd in Passing Offense (386.2 ypg), 5th in Scoring Offense (40.8 ppg).   Tech broke 33 school records, five GSC records and tied one.  The Wonderboys had two wide receivers ranked in the top 10 nationally. In 2011, Preston did a second tour in Finland as Head Coach of the Oulu Northern Lights, the farthest north pro football team in the world, being located just 100 miles south of the Arctic Circle.

While on Coach Hal Mumme's staff at Valdosta State from 1993-95, in addition to his duties as running backs coach,  Preston served as host and producer of the coach's radio show.
